Geographic information system of mobile radiation environment monitoring

Purpose:
radiation environment monitoring, real-time area radiation pollution detection, and unlawful radioactive or nuclear materials movement detection

Functions:

  • to measure gamma emission dose rate and obtain geographic coordinates of measurement
  • to measure on surface of objects at a distance up to 4 meters;
  • real-time measurement results transfer;
  • to obtain gamma- and neutron spectrum, and to identify radioactive source composition;
  • to tie measurement results with map documents automatically.

The system can be easily adjusted to specific tasks and requirements due to its modular structure.

Functional subsystems:

  • portable measuring set  MKS KP-AD6: to measure afield dose rate, to get coordinates of measurement execution point, and to transfer results in real-time mode
  • spectrometer: it is intended for gamma- and neutron spectrum generation and radioactive source composition identification
  • database server: it is intended for measurement results archiving and archival storage, isolation of personnel and software access to stored information; stored data provision on requires of authorized personnel  
  • Automated workstation (AWS); it is used to display measurement points on electronic topographic map; to review radiation environment measurement results and measurement point geographic coordinates on electronic topographic maps.
