Computer-aided coolant leak detection system based on aerosol activity (ASOTT-A)

Purpose:
leak detection, consumption evaluation and location in equipment and pipelines of multiple forced circulation loops (MFCL), including in MFCL rooms with increased humidity level, by means of registration of volumetric aerosol activity variation in air medium in leak area, and monitoring results return to operating personnel of the power unit.

ASOTT-A is one of the key systems for effective and reliable coolant leak detection and identification at early stages for MFCL equipment and pipelines. It allows to prevent from large pipeline break, if "small leak" is detected and corresponding actions are made.

Functions:

  • MFCL equipment and pipelines coolant leak detection at early stages in monitored rooms. Detection is based on volumetric aerosol activity variation in air medium sampled in leak area by means of sampling lines;
  • leak determination by means of considerable increase of monitored air humidity condensate activity in monitored rooms during specified time period;
  • leak identification, including leak location determination (accurate within the room) and coolant consumption evaluation;
  • monitoring results return to operating personnel of the power unit.

ASOTT-A is a functional structure which include measuring equipment, data-computing network, communications, and software for automated automated leak detection, evaluation and location in MFCL equipment and pipelines.
