Computer-aided system of multipoint hydrogen concentration measurement in RU VVER and ppb RU RBMK containment

Purpose:

  • continuous automatic hydrogen concentration control in power plant containment, and in rooms with possible hydrogen formation. it is intended for hydrogen fire- and explosion safety under normal operation conditions, in case of design and beyond the design basis accidents;
  • measurement and corresponding signalling in case of exceeding of control points (hydrogen concentration values specified in the project) in the containment under normal operation conditions and in case of normal operation failure;
  • operating personnel assistance in control of beyond the design basis accidents, aimed at prevention of hydrogen burning, which can result in containment consistency failure.

Functions:

  • hydrogen and oxygen concentration measurement in low leakage containment building of NPP;
  • data processing and representation of hydrogen concentration in low leakage containment building of NPP;
  • warning and emergency alarm in case of high hydrogen concentration in low leakage containment building of NPP.

Computer-aided system of multipoint hydrogen concentration measurement in containment consists of data collection and processing unit, and four similar platforms installed in the containment. Each platform includes:

  • hydrogen (oxygen) sensor;
  • pressure and temperature sensor;
  • two bottles of calibration gas;
  • solenoid valves (for hydrogen dosage from calibration bottles).

Hydrogen (oxygen) sensors are calibrated remotely.
